Manchester Airport recently hosted a 4-kilometre fun run in aid of the British Airways and Comic Relief’s partnership charity ‘Flying Start’. Bridgewater’s very own Consultant James Downing was there to take part. As a huge plane fanatic, James jumped at the opportunity to get up close and personal with the planes, including the chance to see a double-decker A380 land and go on a tour of a Concorde aircraft after he had crossed the finish line, all whilst raising over £200 for a worthwhile cause.
The run around the third biggest airport in the UK was a huge success raising over £7000 for charity. The event was led by footballing legend Gary Lineker and attended by 200 energetic runners and aviation fans dressed in red.
Flying Start aims to raise money to help children from deprived backgrounds across the world. Their projects focus on giving children and their families a helping hand rather than just a handout. They improve lives by giving young carers a break, vaccinating against deadly illnesses and giving children access to education – transforming young lives at a local level, on a global scale.
