Global Manufacturer - Marketing Director

The Company

Bridgewater Resources’ executive search services were employed by a global manufacturer of heating and domestic appliances and a world leader in renewable energy.

The Change

Due to a company restructure and a newly appointed Managing Director, the business were looking to bring in a different team of directors. We were tasked with finding an experienced Marketing Director to provide strategic and operational leadership to the company’s UK marketing activities for their UK operation.

The Requirements

Operating a diverse product range, with an extensive international brand portfolio, the business wanted to transform their marketing vision from product-based to customer-focused.

We needed to find a senior level, degree-educated MCIM who was an expert in the development and delivery of a fully integrated multi-channel marketing strategy, with previous experience in the electrical appliances, renewable energy or heating manufacturing/ distribution industries.

The Solution

In order to find the right candidate for the opportunity, we ensured that we were fully versed in our client’s requirements, their industry and their company culture. Utilising executive search resources, we selectively targeted candidates that satisfied the above specifications. We conducted thorough assessments of every candidate through psychometric testing, telephone and face-to-face interviews before submitting a shortlist of 4 to our client.

The Result

Following 2 further interview stages, the successful and now appointed candidate is a senior marketing professional with extensive B2B and B2C experience across multiple channels and sectors with Chartered Marketer status, an MBA and BEng in Chemical Engineering.

National Distributor – Commercial Director

The Company

Our executive search services were employed by a national distributor of the world’s leading electronic security brands.

The Change

The business was looking to bring on a new Commercial Director who could overhaul the current policies and procedures in order to maximise team productivity and efficiency.

The Requirements

We needed to source a candidate with technical expertise and a personality profile to fully align with the leadership team.

The Solution

To find the right person for the role we first came to understand the business, their culture and key challenges. With this in mind, we chose to employ a hybrid search and selection approach. We advertised the role online with leading job boards and contacted senior professionals in the industry. We then met with a select number of candidates for face-to-face interviews and administered psychometric tests to ensure that they were a great fit for the role.

The Result

We were able to present a shortlist of 3 strong candidates to our client who was very impressed with the calibre and offered the role to a senior commercial manager.

National Trade Association – Project Manager

The Company

Bridgewater Resources’ executive search services were employed by a national trade association whose members account for around 80% of their industry.

The Change

The association wanted to introduce a new product data service to the UK market and required an experienced Project Manager to roll-out the model across the UK.

The Requirements

Our client required a highly driven and determined Project Manager to carry out a feasibility study and to create and execute a plan for the implementation of the product data model in the UK.

We needed to find someone with a broad knowledge of electrical installation products, excellent project management skills and experience of working with large databases.

The Solution

We decided to take two different avenues with this assignment. The first was to look for graduates with an electrical engineering degree and some database experience. The other was to look for experienced database professionals with some electrical products knowledge. It was also important that they live or be able to commute to London.

The Result

The individual who was offered this fantastic opportunity has extensive product data knowledge, having worked for some of the largest electrical wholesalers in the UK on their databases and catalogues.

Since starting, they have been liaising with trade associations across Europe that have already introduced the product data service to make note of best practices. They are now putting a plan in place to roll out the service across the UK.

Leading International Manufacturing Group - Head of Sales

The Company

Bridgewater Resources’ executive search services were employed by leading player in the supply, repair and calibration of test equipment across the UK.

The Change

Following a recent acquisition by a major group of wholesale and distribution companies, our client required an experienced Head of Sales to lead the external sales network of their long-established distribution business.

Despite their established position within their marketplace and their steady year on year growth, the business has ambitious plans to triple their current £11 million turnover through organic growth, acquisitions and the support of their £600 million turnover group.

The Requirements

We needed to source someone with experience of working in a senior leadership role in B2B sales. They were also required to be well versed in sales theory and in heading up external sales teams.

The Solution

We mapped out senior sales professionals with a background in wholesale and distribution. We were looking for individuals who had successfully increased the performance of networks of Area Sales Managers and had experience expanding to a new customer base.

Even though we were asked to find someone based anywhere in the UK, we felt that as the company was going to go through an important transition, it was important that this individual would be based within a 1-hour drive of the Head Office.

The Result

We put together a shortlist of five promising candidates who were required to complete aptitude and psychometric assessments. Four were invited to interview with the Managing Director. Two really impressed and were invited to meet with the CEO of the group.

The successful individual has attended an assessment with an industrial psychologist who concluded he had the right personality traits and experience to successfully manage and grow sales. He has now started and is putting a sales strategy in place for 2017.

National Wholesaler – Managing Director

The Company

Bridgewater Resources’ executive search services were employed by a large group of national market-leading wholesale and distribution businesses.

The Change

With the current Managing Director being promoted to Chairman, this business required an experienced replacement who could make a smooth transition into the role.

The Requirements

We needed to find a senior-level candidate with large organisation experience in the sector who would be able to integrate well with the current team and company culture.

The Solution

We thoroughly understood our client’s requirements, industry and company culture, using our in-depth knowledge to effectively search for and engage relevant candidates. We conducted face-to-face interviews and extensive personality and behavioural assessments to determine the experience and competencies of candidates against the job’s requirements and also the company’s cultural fit.

The Result

We successfully sourced and presented 4 high-calibre candidates. The decision was difficult as most of the candidates were potentially a good match with the job specification, but after much deliberation the board appointed a new managing director.

Construction and Industrial Supplier – General Manager

The Company

Bridgewater’s executive search team were approached by a market leading supplier operating in the construction and industrial industry.

The Change

We were tasked with sourcing a General Manager whose position would be of high strategic importance for this growing business.

The Requirements

We were required to take a confidential approach in finding a candidate with key product knowledge and a proven track record in successfully managing a supply business.

The Solution

We were able to target candidates that fulfilled the specific requirements of the role through our targeted search and selection process. We conducted initial face-to-face interviews before assessing suitable candidates thoroughly through intelligence and psychometric testing. This allowed us to narrow down a shortlist of 3 candidates for the client to meet with.

The Result

Following extensive interviews, the client was quick to appoint one of the candidates we had selected. The client got back in touch with us a few weeks later to ask us to partner with them again on sourcing staff for their sales team.
